ADOPT A ROOM IS BACK! Please participate! We will be reaching out to all of our friends and families and community businesses. It’s so exciting to see the difference that is made with this project once every five years. This is the project that directly affects the quality of life for the seniors that reside in our community. $1,000 per room is needed to completely remodel and repair, upgrade and refresh a room. Most of the rooms are shared with two people. Flooring, walls, cabinets, bedding, curtains, pictures, painting, whatever it takes! Please call or e-mail Frances at 828-669-8452 or [email protected] for any additional information. Come for a tour and visit the rooms you’ve sponsored in the past or want to sponsor this year. Thank you for your kindness and generosity. It means so much.

ERWIN LIONS invited me to speak about the McCune Community and Brighter Vision at their January Meeting. It was great to get back with this great Lions Club and meet with so many old friends and to meet so many new friends too. This Lion’s Club has been a part of our community for such a long time! Thank you for all you do.

VENDORS/ SUPPLIERS At the beginning of each year we assess quotes from the vendors and suppliers that will provide supplies and services to our center. We obtain quotes for electricians, plumbers, mechanics, etc… If you have professional skills that you’d like to share with the center please call us.

YARD SALE We will be having a yard sale to help raise money for three people in our community that can see with the ESight glasses. Please start your spring cleaning a little early and donate nice, clean items in your home that you no longer use. If you need help with transporting items, we can pick up within a 20 mile radius of the center. And don’t forget to come and shop! All of us together can do so much for so many!

CIRCLE OF CHAMPIONS was begun one year ago by Lion Max Bumgardner, Past President of the Western North Carolina Lions, with the first recipient being Pat Malick, parent of a resident in our independent cottages. This new tradition was carried through with Lion Dr. Mary Sedgwick, current President, while honoring Karen Calhoun at our 40thAnniversaryCelebration. These exceptional award recipients have been a godsend. We’re grateful for all that you do. Respectfully yours,

Frances Coates
