The McCune Community celebrated it’s 40th Anniversary on November 21st at the Blue Ridge Assembly (YMCA) in Black Mountain. The beautiful event was well attended by guests from all over North Carolina. Karen Calhoun was awarded for her generosity and commitment to the visually impaired of the McCune Community. A memorial for Bill Osbourne, one of the founding fathers of the center, was established. This recognition was presented to Eugene Sizemore. Two of the people residing in the community, Doris Stewart and Louis Atchison were speakers. They talked about life at the center and recognized the staff and the administrator, Frances Coates, for all that they do for the senior citizens that reside in both the assisted living or the independent living.
