Marjorie McCune was the first blind caseworker with the NC Division of Services for the Blind in Buncombe County. She dreamed of a “happy home” with a compassionate and caring staff that could assist the blind in their daily chores and activities, while restoring their pride and dignity. She approached the Lions Club with her idea to care for those that were struggling to care for themselves.
The Lions of District 31A responded by building the Marjorie McCune Center, a 64-bed assisted living center that cared for the elderly, the disabled and the blind.
Today, the Center, owned and operated by the Lions of District 31A, provides top quality care for a diverse community of residents in a warm homelike setting.
Memorials and Honorariums to the Marjorie McCune Center are an ideal way to honor a friend or loved one and help the support the Lions of District 31A in their efforts to enhance the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of all residents, with independence, freedom of choice and dignity in a homelike environment.
