Halloween is always wonderful at the center, and this year is no exception. The residents of the center and cottages distributed candy to community children, Etowah Lion Ken Wise of Etowah provided eye exams and everyone dressed up for the occasion! Our sincere gratitude to all that donated candy for this big day!

Canton Lions Club invited me to speak about our center and about Brighter Vision. Such a strong group of leaders that have a lot of fun! Their kindness and dedication is an inspiration to everyone that comes into contact with them. Great Club, great meeting and I’d be honored to return anytime.

NEW DATE***** Volunteer Day is November 3rd @ 9 a.m. McCune Community is right around the corner! We have a wonderful day planned with planting, window cleaning, power washing, trail-blazing (or at least trail smoothing), fertilizing, mulching, and of course, a scrumptious continental breakfast and BBQ lunch. Please come help because we really need you. Our grounds are breathtaking…because of you. Contact Lion Jim Edgar, PDG, of the Sand Hill Lion’s Club with questions. Thank you, Lion Jim, for all you do.

VIP Fishing Does it just get better and better?! It was great, to begin with, but now, the excitement is electrical! Our ‘fishermen’ came back elated. Isn’t that truly the best way to have a vacation? They love getting together with old friends and meeting new friends. And of course, meeting 12 Governors is a real bonus! The bus must never stop! They’re having too much fun traveling together! A big shout out to Lion Mary Sedgwick of the Sand Hill Lion’s Club! Her commitment, organization and natural aptitude for fun have made the VIP Fishing Trip go from great to amazing!

Marjorie McCune Donations We’re grateful to Nancy Bennett for the beautiful picture of Tawny, Marjorie McCune’s Seeing Eye dog, and the two copies of Toni’s Tale, the book Marjorie wrote.

Thanksgiving Banquet Everyone that has volunteered at the center is invited. This event is free to our volunteers. It’s a Thanksgiving dinner and recognition. This is our once a year opportunity for residents, their families, staff and their families and our volunteers to get together. Bring a covered dish that’s either an entrée, side dish, dessert or salad and have a chance to win $50!

Convention Come to our booth for a free raffle, cookies, Timberlake Raffle Tickets and some good conversation (: See you there!

Respectfully yours,

Frances Coates
