National Assisted Living Week starts on Grandparents Day every year. The people living and working at the center enjoyed the many festivities and no one could keep up with Kim Owen during the pie eating contest. No more said; these pictures speak for themselves!

Hendersonville Lions Club invited me to speak about our center and about Brighter Vision. So many familiar faces! My program was outshined by an incredible Lion, Ray West, that not only inspired these motivated Lions to give to Brighter Vision in a big way, but also to remember who we all are as Lions. Great Club, great meeting and I’d be honored to return anytime.

Inspections The Health Inspector met with our dietary department last month, raising our inspection score from 97% to 99.5%! As you dine at different restaurants look at the Health Inspector Score. You will rarely see a score like ours. We can all be so proud of our new Food Service Supervisor, Cassie Macy, and her crew for the delicious food, immaculate kitchen, and high scores-all while being right on budget.

Volunteer Day is October 13th @ 9 a.m. McCune Community is right around the corner! We have a wonderful day planned with planting, window cleaning, power washing, trail-blazing (or at least trail smoothing), fertilizing, mulching, and of course, a scrumptious continental breakfast and BBQ lunch. Please come help because we really need you. Our grounds are breathtaking…because of you.

VIP Fishing we have 10 people ready to have the time of their lives at the fishing tournament. Please help us make this happen. Your donations can assist us in getting these VIPs to the Outer Banks.

Candy, candy, candy we need lots of candy donations to make Halloween a success. Each year we grow and grow with over 200 visitors last Halloween. Our worse fear, even more than vampires and ghosts, is running out of candy! Every little bit helps, please grab a bag of candy and donate.

Halloween October 31st, 6-8 p.m. Bring the kids and grandkids for a fun night of Trick-or-Treat. The people living at the center and the independent cottages sit outside their rooms or in the Commons and hand out lots and lots of treats. It’s great seeing all the children in their Halloween costumes and indoors, safe and very yummy for the kids. We’ll be decorated scary and in charming fall fashion with staff in costume and monsters around every corner. Lion Ken Wise of Etowah will be testing children’s vision and the McCune Lions will be selling hot chocolate and donuts. This is a good time for all!

Respectfully yours.
