GOVERNOR’S NEWSLETTER 10/19 FRANCES COATES, ADMINISTRATOR

ROOM REFURBISHING There have been 32 rooms adopted in 2005, 2010 and 2015. These rooms have been adopted by the Silvers Brothers Employees, Erwin Lions, Pisgah Forest Lions, Enka Lions, Valley Springs Lions, Canton Lions, Swannanoa Lions, Candler Lions, Haw Creek Lions, Rutherfordton Lions, Shelby Lions, Brevard Lions, Franklin Lions, Lake Lure Lions, Hendersonville Daybreak Lions, Greater Asheville Lions, Davidson Lions, Etowah Lions, Waynesville Lions, Greater Reynolds Lions, Maggie Valley Lions, McCune Lions, Clyde Lions, Hendersonville Lions, District 31L, and the Black Mountain Lions. In 2020 we are asking that resident’s rooms be adopted again; allowing us to replace or repair flooring, paint, new pictures, bedspreads, sheets, curtains, shades, furnishings, refinish cupboards and dressers and all of the things that keep peoples room fresh and updated. Once a room is adopted, we put a gold plaque on the door of the room to recognize the Club or individual that made the transformation possible and honor the donors at our Thanksgiving Banquet in 2020. This project directly affects the people of our community and isn’t used in any other area of the building. The Lake Lure Lions have adopted two rooms! Thank you Haw Creek Lions, Weaverville Lions, Lake Lure Lions and the Asheville Professional Women’s Lions for launching 2020!

National Assisted Living Week starts on Grandparents Day every year. The people living and working at the center enjoyed the many festivities. The Fair, dancing in the park, McCune Signature Cookies on 9/11 for the Black Mountain rescue teams, pie eating contest, hat day, and a balloon war, karaoke, a free store day and so much more. Lion Deniece Ogle, the Activity Director, kept each day fun and fantastic!
