Administrator’s Report, Frances Coates September is so beautiful in the mountains. We’re anticipating many special events this month and more than ever appreciating and feeling blessed. Two families are moving into the Independent Living Cottages. Our senior neighbors are wonderful neighbors to our assisted living center and to me on our gorgeous campus. Of course, our upcoming volunteer day contributes largely to the beauty of our grounds. More news to follow on the date for Volunteer Day.
National Assisted Living Week starts on Grandparents Day, September 9th. The community will enjoy exciting festivities each day of the week, including a beach party (hula skirts and all!), pie eating contest, trip to the fair, tea party and Catchphrase at administrator’s house and much, much more.
Please invite us to do a program at your church, meetings, classrooms, etc…
Topics include diabetes prevention, updates, and nutrition, or Lionism membership or assistance, or a favorite topic, the McCune Assisted and Independent Living Community!! Programs given this month included:
Mills River Lions Breakfast with this hardworking, dynamic group is well worth the early morning road trip. I especially love this Club and hope to visit them often.
Maggie Valley Lion’s Club It was wonderful seeing old friends and meeting new friends. This Club is a joy to visit and such a tribute to Lionism.
Black Mountain Lions the Center is blessed to have this creative, talented group of Lions visit our center each month as they meet. This Club feels like home. I expect great things from them this year. After all, this is our Governor’s Club (:
McCune Lions This Club has my heart. I was grateful to bring in our new members and talk about the center and Brighter Vision. I’m proud of the way our Club keeps growing and the large attendance at each meeting. The recent backpack and school supply drive is one of our largest projects! So many children helped. Thanks to Lion Jerry Huffstetler for presenting a program on Hearing Guide Dogs.
As you can see, the Lions truly make a difference in our community.
Volunteers Needed There are many opportunities to volunteer in our community. Please call Frances @ 828-582-6573 or Deniece @ 828-702-2760 or the center @ 828-669-8452 for a tour, lunch, and if interested, an orientation to be a volunteer with us. We love music, art, crafts, books and especially visitors! A volunteer is needed to answer the phones in the evenings and weekends, pass water, plant flowers, and so much more!
